Here we go again with everyday-life after a wonderful summer. I have started with some new studies that are very exciting, that is giving me a new challenge. Hope you all had a great summer and enjoyed you the nice weather!
I have enjoyed myself with this project this summer. A baby blanket knitted with baby wool size 65 cm x 65 cm. The blanket is knitted in garter st with a fun technique that allows you to knit from corner to corner. Soft and good blanket that warms well for a small baby.
Material:
Dale Baby Wool 100 g (Color: 3403)
Dale Baby Wool 100 g (Color: 3718)
Dale Baby Wool 100 g (Color: 3841)
Dale Baby Wool 100 g (Color: 3871)
Circular Needle (80 cm / 32’’) size 4 mm (US 6)
Gauge: 10 cm = 27 stitches
Blanket:
Worked back and forth on circular needle. Work diagonally from corner to corner. Cast on 3 stitches on circular needle size 4 mm/ US 6 with Baby Wool (color 3403). Knit 2 rows garter stitch. Continue as follow: knit garter stitch, increasing 1 stitch at the beginning of every row by making 1 YO yarn over within 1 edge stitch. On the next row knit the YO stitch garter crossed stitch to avoid a hole in the work. Repeat this until the work measures approx. 65 cm in the sides.
AT THE SAME TIME when the work measures approx. 17 cm change to color 3718. Continue in this color until you have no more of this yarn, approx. 50 g. Switch then to color 3841. IMPORTANT that you always change yarncolor on the same side as the first switch. Continue in this color until you have no more of the yarn, approx. 50 g. Switch to color 3871. Continue in this color until you have no more of the yarn, approx. 50g.
Now when the work measure approx. 65 cm at the sides will we begin to cast off. We will knit on with new 50 g. with the color 3871. As you look at the picture under you will se that the cast off-edge I used are some thicker then increase-edge. So if you want to have a smaller cast off-edge you should knit on garter stitch, cast off 1 stitch at the beginning of each row by knitting the two outer stitches together within 1 edge stitch. BUT if you want to use the same cast off-edge that I used, knit on garter stitch, cast off 1 stitch at the beginning of each row by knitting the two outer stitches together, make 1 YO and then knit the next two stitches together. On the next row knit the YO stitch garter crossed stitch to avoid a hole in the work. Repeat this until there are 3 stitches left on the needle. Cast off and sew all threads.
AT THE SAME TIME when it is knitted 100 g of color 3871 switch to color 3841. IMPORTANT that you also here always switch yarn-color on the same side as the first switch in the beginning. Continue in this color until you have no more of the yarn, approx. 50 g. Change then on to color 3718. Continue in this color until you have no more of the yarn, about 50 g. Switch on to color 3403. Work with this color out the work.
What do you think?
Tips: If you want to have it as similar as possible with the color fields, should you count how many rows you have on each color in the increase-section, and then repeat this in the cast of-section.
Hope you have a glorious weekend!
